General

What is Depencency Governance used for?

Depencency Governance allows controlling and validating work item relationships in Jira using configurable rules based on Work Types and spaces.

Does Depencency Governance replace Jira linking?

No. It extends Jira linking by adding validation, control, and improved interaction through additional UI components.

Configuration

Why can’t I create a link between two work items?

The link is not allowed by the current configuration.

Check:

• Link Scheme
• Work Type Link Scheme
• Whether the link is allowed on both sides (source and target)

Why is a link type missing from the list?

Possible reasons:

• The link type is disabled in the Link Scheme
• The Work Type configuration does not allow it
• The link is not valid for the selected work items

What happens if no Work Type Link Scheme is assigned?

• No link restrictions are enforced
• All link types behave as in standard Jira

Dependencies Panel

Why is a work item visible but cannot be selected?

The work item does not meet validation rules.

• It is displayed as disabled (greyed out)
• The link is not allowed based on current configuration

Can I edit fields directly from the panel?

Yes, selected fields can be edited directly.

• Some fields support inline editing
• Others open a modal
• Availability depends on configuration and permissions

Why can’t I edit a field?

Possible reasons:

• The field is not included in the Field Scheme
• The field is read-only
• You don’t have permission to edit it

Links

Why is a link marked as invalid?

The link does not comply with current configuration.

This may happen if:

• Configuration has changed
• The link was created before rules were applied

Are invalid links removed automatically?

No.

• Invalid links remain in the system
• They must be updated or removed manually

What does Links Enforcer do?

Links Enforcer:

• Detects invalid links after creation
• Shows a notification
• Allows quick actions:
  • Remove
  • Update

Why was my link removed immediately?

Some actions (like Remove) are executed instantly and do not require confirmation.

Reports and Monitoring

What is the difference between the Report and the Chart?

• Invalid Work Item Links Report

  • Shows detailed list of invalid links

• Invalid Work Item Links Chart

  • Shows trends over time

Why can I only see details for the latest report?

• Detailed data is available only for the most recent report
• Historical reports provide summary information only

What is Audit Log used for?

Audit Log shows:

• who made changes
• what was changed
• when it happened

Behavior and Limitations

Why do some work items appear but cannot be selected in Work Item Searcher?

Because:

• They are visible due to configuration
• But do not pass validation rules
• They are shown as disabled (greyed out)

Does Depencency Governance modify existing links automatically?

No.

• The app does not change existing links automatically
• Users must update or remove them manually

Do changes apply immediately?

Yes.

• All configuration changes are applied instantly
• No Save action is required

Permissions

Who can configure Depencency Governance?

• Jira administrators
• Space administrators (for space-level configuration)

Why don’t I see some actions?

Possible reasons:

• Missing permissions
• Field not configured
• Action disabled in configuration
