Global Administration documentation.

The Global Administration section provides centralized tools for managing, monitoring, and auditing sprint activity across your entire Jira instance.

Unlike Jira's native sprint management, which is typically limited to individual boards, Sprint Organizer aggregates sprint information from multiple spaces and Scrum boards into a single administration interface. This allows administrators and Agile leaders to monitor sprint activity, investigate changes, maintain historical records, and quickly locate sprint information without switching between boards.

Global Administration is designed for organizations that manage multiple teams, spaces, or Agile boards and require better operational visibility over their sprint landscape.

These features work together to provide both high-level monitoring and detailed investigation capabilities while fully respecting Jira's permission model.

Available Features

📊 Dashboard

The Dashboard provides a real-time overview of sprint activity across the Jira instance.

It includes:

Sprint distribution by state
Recently created, started, and completed sprints
Key sprint statistics
Operational indicators that help identify unusual sprint activity

The Dashboard is intended as the primary monitoring page for administrators and Agile managers.

📋 Sprints

The Sprints page provides a complete, searchable catalog of every accessible sprint.

Administrators can:

Browse sprint information
Search and filter across spaces and boards
Review sprint properties
Customize visible columns
Quickly navigate to sprint work items, reports, or audit history

This page serves as the primary workspace for sprint exploration and management.

🔍 Orphan Sprints

The Orphan Sprints page helps administrators identify sprints that are no longer associated with an existing Scrum board.

A sprint is considered orphaned when:

Its origin board no longer exists
The sprint is not accessible through any other existing board
None of the sprint's work items make the sprint available through another board

Orphan Sprints provides a centralized way to discover and investigate these sprints, which can otherwise be difficult or impossible to locate through Jira's standard board-based navigation.

Administrators can use this page to:

Find orphaned sprints across the Jira instance
Review their state and other available sprint information
Identify the deleted origin board and its associated space when historical information is available
Locate work items that are still associated with orphaned sprints
Change the board associated with an orphaned sprint, allowing the sprint to be assigned to an existing Scrum board.
Investigate sprint data after boards or spaces have been deleted

⚙️ Boards Configuration

The Boards Configuration page is available only in the Free Edition of Sprint Organizer.

It allows administrators to select which Scrum boards should be tracked by the app.

In the Free Edition:

Up to 3 boards can be selected
Only sprints from the selected boards are tracked by Sprint Organizer
No boards are tracked automatically
Administrators can add or remove selected boards at any time

The Available Boards section lists Scrum boards that can be added to tracking, while Selected Boards shows the boards currently tracked by the app.

This configuration is not required in the Paid Edition. With an active license, Sprint Organizer automatically tracks sprints from all accessible Scrum boards, and the Boards Configuration page is not displayed.

🔒 Permissions

Sprint Organizer fully relies on Jira's native permission model.

The Permissions page explains how sprint visibility is determined and how Global Administration features respect space, board, and work item-level permissions.

Users only see sprint information they are already authorized to access within Jira.

📜 Sprint Audit Log

The Sprint Audit Log records sprint lifecycle events and configuration changes.

It allows administrators to answer questions such as:

Who renamed this sprint?
When was the sprint started?
Who deleted the sprint?
What properties changed?

Each entry includes timestamps, user information (when available), event type, and detailed change information.

Instead of navigating dozens of Scrum boards individually, administrators can investigate sprint activity from one centralized location.

Data Synchronization

All Global Administration features display synchronized sprint information.

Sprint Organizer periodically synchronizes sprint metadata, updates dashboard statistics, refreshes sprint reporting fields, and records audit events in the background.

Because synchronization is asynchronous, recently modified sprint information may take a few minutes to appear throughout the application.

Security

Global Administration does not bypass Jira security.

Although the features aggregate information from multiple spaces and boards, Sprint Organizer only displays data for resources the current user is permitted to access.

Every page—including Dashboard, Sprints, Audit Log, and Deleted Sprint Tracking—fully respects Jira permissions.
